Synopsis

Breath of the Adamastor is a literary historical novel set in Portugal during the opening phase of the Second World War. Through the intersecting narratives of a Canadian biologist, a Portuguese seminarian, and a rural laborer, the novel examines neutrality, moral ambiguity, and the ethical pressures faced by individuals in times of geopolitical instability. Emphasizing historical accuracy and character-driven inquiry, the work contributes to contemporary literary treatments of wartime Europe beyond the battlefield.
